Publicaciones Relevantes

Este es un compendio de los trabajos que se conocen sobre aves que tienen información específica sobre localidades nicaragüenses. También se incluyen aquellos trabajos ornitológicos que se llevaron a cabo en algún lugar de nuestro país, aunque no traten sobre la distribución de una determinada especie. A diferencia de otros países vecinos la literatura ornitológica de Nicaragua es escasa. Algunos de los trabajos más importantes permanecen inéditos, como “A Checklist of the Birds of Nicaragua” de T. R. Howell, cuyo último manuscrito data de 1987 y “The Birds of Nicaragua”, de W. de W. Miller y L. Griscom, escrito alrededor de 1927, y depositado en el American Museum of Natural History de Nueva York. Existen muchas subespecies, especialmente las que aparecen descritas en la literatura del siglo XIX y comienzos del XX, cuya validez es cuestionable. Sin embargo, aquí hemos incluido estas publicaciones porque son de gran interés para documentar los cambios históricos en los rangos de distribución de las especies.

¿Cómo obtener estas publicaciones?

En Nicaragua existen muy pocos lugares que mantengan suscripciones a revistas científicas, pero nos hemos asegurado que en el Centro de Documentación de Fundación Cocibolca exista una copia de la mayoría de las publicaciones que aparecen en esta lista. Las publicaciones que aparecen resaltadas pueden descargarse directamente desde esta página en formato PDF. Para hacer esto necesita tener instalado en su computadora el programa Acrobat Reader. Si no lo tiene puede descargarlo gratis en la página de la compañía Adobe.

Al final de esta lista, agregamos algunos artículos que consideramos de interes, para asuntos más bien metodológicos, están en formato pdf y se pueden bajar, y luego leer con Acrobat Reader.
