Tengo 40 anos de los cuales pase 34 recolectando
insectos, muchos de ellos en los trópicos del mundo incluyendo Perú,
Bolivia, Panamá, Costa-Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, México,
India, Nigeria, Kenia, Burundi y otros.
Mi
enfoque siempre ha sido mariposas y escarabajos, y en la actualidad en
Nicaragua mi enfoque son los lepidópteros diurnos de los cuales tengo unas 400
especies en mi colección de referencia ubicado en Nicaragua. Además tengo
una colección amplia en los Estados Unidos para los grupos taxonómicos que me
interesan mundialmente, los cuales son coleópteros de las familias Carabidae y
Cicindelidae, en estos dos grupos tengo mas de 2,500 taxa identificadas y
30,000 especimenes, dando cobertura al mundo entero pero enfocado en algunos
géneros específicos los cuales son : Calosoma (6 cajas; 120 especies;
2,000 ej.) Cychrini (16
cajas; 220 taxa; 7,000 ex.) Carabus (55 cajas; 1,200 taxa;
20,000 ex.) Cicindelidae (16 cajas; 800 taxa; 8,000 ex.).
En los
lepidópteros hay 25 cajas y alrededor de 1,000 taxa; 2,000 ex. En Nicaragua
son 16 cajas, principalmente lepidópteros diurnos, representando alrededor de
400 especies.
Actualmente estoy trabajando en proyectos de revisión taxonómica de Scaphinotus (Coleoptera , Carabidae, Cychrini) de América del Norte y los Microcallisthenis (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Calosoma), y elaborando listas de los Lycaenidae y Riodinidae de Nicaragua y listas locales de mariposas del Volcán Mombacho, Refugio de Vida silvestre La Flor, y Cruz negra en Carazo.
